We look forward to supporting you in advancing your Comprehensible Input practice at this intensive three-day workshop!
Learn through Demonstration and Participation:
How to use Story Listening to engage students and provide a training ground in comprehensibility for your CI skills.
How to create compelling characters as a class starting with one word (One Word Images)
How to tell short, engaging stories based on students’ characters – using a simple storytelling framework
How to stay in bounds and make yourself comprehensible to your students, using visual aids, intonation, facial expression, body language, student actors, gestures, TPR, and pacing.
How to create class texts based on the students’ characters and stories, to provide follow-up literacy work.
How to use class-created texts (or other texts such as novels) to provide massive input through 21 Reading Options.
The cost per participant is $550 CLICK HERE TO PAY VIA PAYPAL. This includes light breakfasts and lunches, and Ben’s book The Big CI Book.
If you want to bring your own coffee, breakfasts, and lunches, the cost is $450. Please write to Tina at tinahargaden, which is a gmail.com address, to request the “bring your own lunch” option. However, please do plan on staying with us at lunchtime as this is a valuable time of processing and reflection.

Portland State University graduate credit is available as one or two follow-up courses. Registration deadline for the follow-up course is May 1 for Spring term and July 1 for Summer term, and assignments are due on June 5 for Spring term or September 5 for Summer term. You will register for the PSU credits on-site at the workshop.
Credits cost $280 for three graduate quarter credits and generally can only be used towards licensure and salary advancement, not a master’s degree.
